Welcome to JKS Glasgow
JKS Glasgow is a vibrant and welcoming Shotokan karate club rooted in tradition, community, and excellence. As part of the Japan Karate Shotorenmei (JKS), we maintain a direct and active link to Japan — the birthplace of karate — with regular visits from senior Japanese instructors and annual trips to train at the JKS Honbu Dojo in Tokyo. These experiences ensure our members receive authentic, world-class instruction rooted in the values and techniques of traditional Shotokan.
We proudly offer a clear development pathway for all members, whether you're training for fitness, self-discipline, or international competition. Students can progress through:
-
Local club competitions
-
Scottish and UK national tournaments
-
Prestigious international events, including championships in Croatia, Japan, and beyond
Our club is built on a strong sense of community. We believe karate should be accessible to all, which is why we regularly:
-
Deliver free taster sessions in schools
-
Offer vouchers and demo events at community centre and school fayres
-
Work closely with local organisations to promote health, confidence, and inclusion through martial arts
With over 25 weekly classes across Glasgow and surrounding areas, a family-friendly atmosphere, and coaching by SKGB-qualified, insured instructors, JKS Glasgow offers something for everyone — from complete beginners to high-performance athletes.
Join our karate family and discover your potential through discipline, movement, and connection.
